About Freemasonry, not just Freemasons
Over the past 15 years or so, many people have asked me about the state of Freemasonry in the United States. Several people have asked me to share my opinion on the similarities and differences between American and European Freemasonry. I have attempted to answer these questions in several lectures. A compiled and edited version of these lectures follows below.

We are pleased to present this paper prepared by the eminent Masonic Scholar, J. Fairbairn Smith, Editor Emeritus of the Detroit Masonic World. Raised as a “Lewis” at the age of 18, in the lodge at Hawick, Scotland, in 1925, Bro. Smith has become one of the most respected of Masonic journalists. He is a “mould stone” from the quarry of Masonic life.
Many researchers and theorists specializing in Freemasonry consider the role of Freemasons to be of importance in the development and maintenance of democratic societies. The general perception of Freemasonry is that it is a secret organization. Freemasons know that this is not true. The public believes that Freemasons are secretive. Freemasons know that this is true. The plumb, the compass, the square, the candlestick, the sword, the sun, the moon, the all-seeing eye, the temple, the pillars, the apron, the gloves, the apprentice, the journeyman, the master, and we could go on, listing only the most important ones. It isn’t easy to highlight the most significant ones, even among the most important ones. However, it is still important to clarify which of the symbols considered basic Masonic symbols mean what and what they can mean. This is because many symbols have multiple meanings.

Noachite, Noachida, Noahide, etc. The term comes from the name Noah and has several meanings. It has both religious and ideological meanings. Is the term “Noachite” pronounced differently, but with the same meaning: it is significant in Freemasonry, as Noachites represent moral purity and justice, and as such are associated with the search for historical truth, the themes of vengeance and justice, and spiritual development.

There are many legends about the origins and principles of Freemasonry, and there are not enough historical sources to dispel any doubts. Although there is a wealth of documentation on some of the important symbols of Freemasonry that can be linked to the Old Testament, mainly through the internet. This desk study on the Old Testament and Freemasonry explores the links between them, focusing on the symbolic and ethical parallels.
